Fire Belly

Looking through some work from college, I came across this image - a favorite of mine and of many others. This was the picture found on my first promotional card! It still graces many of my friends' refrigerators and mantles, ten years later.
The assignment was to illustrate an article titled "Eating Right." Fire, the spirit, is my food. This piece led to some great commissions and is worth a revisit, mainly as an auger of inspiration. Muse, bring it on! I'm ready to paint, especially after recently digging out of storage some of the same inks that were used in this picture.
