To celebrate our Swedish heritage, my friend Kirsten Housel and I are holding a party for Midsommar on July 21st. In Sweden, the sun lasts all day and through the night, and in a country where at other times the night does the same, it is a reason to celebrate! Traditionally, there are many flowers,
food, and bonfires, which makes this yet another Swedish holiday carried over from pagan times virtually intact. This explains why my otherwise quite conservative mother wholeheartedly believes in faeries. Anyways, this is a day for the fire goddess, a goddess of fertility and creativity, so everyone rub your bellies, put on your flower crowns, and enjoy!
